About me
Silent Visions is a small indie brand specializing in handmade jewellery and accessories for ball-jointed dolls,
founded in 2010. It's run by a single person.
I’ve been in the BJD hobby since 2005, though I bought the first doll and started my own collection in 2007. Soon after I began making jewellery and small accessories for my own dolls - those little experiments later developed into my Silent Visions shop.
Some of my other hobbies include travels, photography, art, theatre and sewing.
Professionally, I’m a freelance jewellery designer, goldsmith and art historian. Currently I create BJD jewellery as
a hobby, while pursuing my day job as an art historian.
About my jewellery
Ever since my early years, I’ve been fascinated by the works of goldmithing, both those from past ages and contemporary, with their intricate techniques, subtle shine of precious metals and enchanting, colourful gemstones from all around the world. Jewellery can make a person and their personality shine, but it can also encapsule memories, history or certain symbolism.
Most of my works are One Of A Kind.
Usually, my journey to create a piece of jewellery starts with an idea that is polished through several sketches,
as well as hours long search for the perfect stones with colours, textures and lustre that will work together well. Afterwards, the initial design starts to slowly take a physical shape - in my work I prefer to rely solely on traditional goldsmithing techniques, the same as those used for making human-sized jewellery. Each of my pieces is handmade, so naturally they're not as flawless as a machine work would be - even though I always try to make sure that the quality of every piece is as high as possible, there might be some small imperfections. They're not flaws. To me, those little signs that something was made by hand are a part of the item’s beauty, its unique “soul”.
My university studies focused also on gemmology and gemstone identification, so I’m always trying to choose the stones that have the best quality possible within a given price range - both when it comes to the quality of the stone itself and the way it was cut.
Some of the gemstones I use in my works are sourced worldwide through various suppliers, but whenever possible,
I prefer to see them in person first and choose the ones that inspire me. That’s why many of them are found and bought during my travels or sourced from local suppliers I’ve already known for few years.
Each piece of jewellery I create brings me a lot of joy that I wish to share with you and your beautiful dolls.
