Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find items that are currently for sale? How can I order?
All new jewellery and accessories are posted in my Etsy shop and on Silent Visions Instagram account.
You can buy Silent Visions items directly on Etsy or - if you prefer to pay in USD instead of EUR - send me either a DM on Instagram or an e-mail through this website.
How to correctly measure my doll's ring size?
1. Wrap a thin strip of paper or a ribbon around doll's finger
2. Mark where the paper or ribbon overlaps
3. Lay the paper or ribbon flat
4. Measure the result in milimeters...
5. ...and now you know the correct size!
Are the Silent Visions BJD rings adjustable?
All of my rings are split on the underside, which allows a little adjustment for better fit and makes putting the ring on easier.
Usually, you should be able to gently open them a bit more with pliers in order to make them fit a slightly bigger doll finger, but I recommend this only if your doll's ring size is 1-2 mm bigger than the ring. In this scale, any bigger adjustment might distort the ring's shape. It might also not look good.
Please always measure your doll's finger carefully and check the ring's size in the listing/Instagram post!
My doll's jewellery has darkened over the time. What's wrong? What can I do?
Silver and gold-plated jewellery turns darker and looses some of it's shine over the time. It is a common, natural occurrence called corrosion or - for silver - tarnishing, which happens when jewellery is kept in the air. It is not a fault or a quality issue.
With silver jewellery, it is easy to restore it's colour and shine by using a jewellery cleaner or jewellery wipes for silver.
However, I do not recommend using this method on gold-plated jewellery, as it can completely remove the layer of plating!*
Please accept that gold-plated jewellery ages in a similar way that our beloved dolls do.
Another thing to keep in mind when cleaning your jewellery is to avoid directly dipping gemstones or crystals in the jewellery cleaner as it can make some of them dull or matte.
To preserve the colour and shine of your jewellery, I suggest not leaving it on a doll for a long period of time and storing it in a closed box to preserve after use.
* Technically there are jewellery cleaners for gold-plated and delicate jewellery, but speaking from my own experience, even they can be too strong and remove the plating in many cases, so I don't recommend this method.
If you still want you experiment with it, I suggest to use a small amount of cleaner on a part of your jewellery that isn't too visible (for example near the clasp) first and stop as soon as you see that plating is disappearing.
Do you accept returns?
Each of Silent Visions pieces is handmade, so naturally they are not as flawless as a machine work would be. Even though
I always try to make sure that the quality of every jewellery piece is as high as possible, there might be some small imperfections indicating that my works were made by hand. They are not considered flaws.
Returns are NOT accepted. Before purchasing Silent Visions jewellery, please look closely at the photos and don't hesitate to ask if you are unsure about something.
What are the shipping options?
My primary shipping method is registered airmail with tracking number.
Items are shipped within 3-5 days and tracking number is provided to buyer once the order is in transit.
EMS might be available upon request, but in most cases it will be much more expensive. If you want your order sent via EMS, please contact me through this website or an Instagram DM before your purchase.
How did you learn to make jewellery?
I have a BA in Jewellery Making and Gemstone Identification. After finishing my studies I underwent an additional training at a master goldsmith's studio, helping her with her daily work as well as developing my own (human-sized) designs. During my studies and afterwards, I have taken part in several exhibitions and contests in Poland.
However, I strongly believe that learning and polishing your skills is a long journey, so I always strive for my works to become better and better.
