A little bit of jade...

Some of you might remember me brainstorming for a new SD/SD+ BJD necklace on Instagram some time ago. This afternoon, between one thunderstorm and another, I finally had enough quiet, peaceful hours to properly work on fully bringing it to life.

Gemstones I used are jade, sunstone and emerald - and while green mixed with salmon pink might not be a colour scheme I often work with, I instantly fell in love with it. Isn't there something intriguing about it?

The carved jade I used for the centerpiece was a little surprise from one of my gemstone suppliers. Whenever I meet him, we talk about my projects and ideas and he knows that I'm always on the hunt for tiny stones for doll jewellery, but also carved ones for the pieces I make for myself. One day, he greeted me with this jade, hoping that it will be small enough for my BJD necklaces, so I could create something like my personal jewellery for them too.

While I loved the idea, for a long time I wasn't sure what to pair it with - sometimes there are gemstones that are so beautiful that I wait for a long time before I actually use them, a bit afraid of ruining their charm with wrong stone or colour combination. Then finally one day, as I was organizing my stone boxes, I put it next to the sunstones and I instantly knew they were destined for each other.

Initially I thought about adding an oval carnelian and dark green tassel, but after several tests, I decided that the colour and shape combination I used for the finished piece looks much more harmonious, matching both jade and sunstones better.

I hope you will like it as much as I do!
